ABOUT SPEC RESOURCES
Specify it once, and it builds exactly as drawn.
The biggest risk in a spec is writing in something that cannot be built. This page gives you the files you need and a direct feasibility channel: confirm it can be made, then write it in, so your drawings are buildable the moment they reach the factory.
We are a full-line sign factory, so it is not only LED backlit signs. The rest of the signage in your project, from non-illuminated signs to ADA, digital, and faux-neon signs, can be specified and asked about here too.
A full-line custom sign manufacturer
We are a China-based full-line custom sign manufacturer, engineering to US electrical practice and the UL system for the US and Canadian market. LED backlit signs are the focus of this site, but the factory builds every category, so the rest of the signage in your project can be specified with us as well.
Feasibility, before it goes in the spec
Send us your design and we will tell you directly whether it can be built and how.
- Complex typefaces, irregular logos, oversized letters, and special finishes: we assess first and quote second, so uncertainty never makes it into your spec.
- Not only backlit signs. You can ask about any signage in your project, including non-illuminated, ADA, digital, and faux-neon signs.
- We accept vector files (ai, eps, cdr, or PDF).
- We reply promptly.
Where the parameters live
Materials, size ranges, the opal acrylic and halo mechanism, and the electrical and mounting parameters vary by sign type and by project, so they live on the product pages and on the Luxury and Common model pages rather than in one table here that would date quickly and rarely match your exact piece.
For the exact spec of your project, its sizes, stroke widths, finishes, and electrical, send the design and we will give it to you and set it out clearly in the quote.
Files and services
Free on request (contact us):
- A general mounting drawing and wiring diagram (a 1:1 layout template ships with your order).
- Finish references: see the photographed samples in our resource gallery.
Paid engineering services:
- We produce shop drawings, DWG files, and Revit families for a specific project, and build custom finish samples and mock-ups to your submittal requirements.
- Taken case by case; we tell you whether we can support it and the fee.
- When the project is built by us, that fee is credited toward your order, in part or in full depending on the order.
- Drawings you pay for are yours to use; note they are engineered for our fabrication process, so another factory may need to adapt them.
Specify the whole sign package at once
Beyond LED backlit signs, we also make non-illuminated signs, ADA signs, digital signs, and faux-neon signs. When you write a spec, you can specify all the signage for the project at once; being able to supply the whole package is what gets a factory into the spec, and with one project in one factory, the drawings, sign-off, and warranty stay aligned.
Designer FAQ notes
- Can you make this shape, font, or size?
- Send the vector and we will answer promptly. Very thin strokes or very small letters can be hard to light evenly, which affects the halo, and irregular logos are assessed case by case. Confirm first, then write it into the spec.
- Is there a minimum size?
- Yes. Strokes that are too thin or letters that are too small are hard to light evenly. Whether your specific font and size can be built is something we confirm case by case once you send the design, and we give you the workable minimum for your piece.
- Should I specify 304 or 316?
- 304 stainless is the default; specify 316 for coastal or high-salt sites. For very large letters, the Common model can use aluminum to cut weight.
- What files do you provide for permit or submittal?
- A general mounting drawing and wiring diagram come free (a 1:1 layout template ships with the order); project-specific shop drawings, DWG files, and Revit families are a paid engineering service (credited toward your order when we build it). The sign itself ships UL Listed as a set, with UL labels on US projects; UL and cUL certification files are not provided as deliverables.
- Do you have Revit families?
- Yes, produced per project as part of the paid engineering service: built to the real sizes and parameters of your project rather than a generic placeholder.
- How do I write the warranty into the spec?
- A 3-year warranty, shipped as a UL Listed set (UL Listed LEDs and a UL Listed Mean Well power supply, a 12V DC low-voltage system).
